Introducing Alsayed Hosny: An Interview with Egypt by Travelive’s Country Manager

by Travelive Team

It’s always good to have a friend in a foreign land; especially one as adventure-packed as Egypt! We’re talking about someone who won’t just show you around the Pyramids of Giza but will have them subvert all your expectations. That person who will help you find a hidden oasis along the Nile and make sure you don’t miss out on the treasures of the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum. An individual who will cross deserts to ensure your clients discover Egypt in the most singular and unforgettable of ways.

As Egypt by Travelive’s Country Manager, that is exactly what Alsayed Hosny aims to do; and with over 20 years of experience, he does so with utmost precision, passion, and dedication.  But why hear this from us when you can hear it from the man himself in a new and exclusive interview with Travelive?

So, without further ado, let’s see what Alsayed can tell us about this amazing destination!

As the Egypt Country Manager, what does your role include day-to-day? What were the biggest hurdles in building the team and product, and how does that work help advisors and their clients?

As Egypt’s Country Manager, my daily passion is running operations smoothly, making sure our services are top-notch, and constantly enhancing the experiences for our guests on the ground. I focus on delivering what luxury travelers expect while managing Egypt’s unique operational quirks.

One of the toughest parts was finding the right people, locals who really know Egypt and understand the high level of personalized service our advisors and clients want. Working exclusively with expert guides and Egyptologists to meet that standard was super important. We’ve worked hard to make everything seamless and impressive, from VIP airport services to cruising on the Nile. This lets advisors relax, knowing their clients are in great hands with support always available.

What new openings, hotel updates, flight or access changes should advisors know about? Are you expecting anything special for 2026?

The big news is the full opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in November 2025, which will completely change how visitors see Egypt’s history.

We’re also excited about new luxury hotels like Mandarin Oriental Cairo and Four Seasons Luxor; plus, some classic hotels in Aswan and Alexandria are getting major upgrades, making multi-city trips even better.

In terms of flights, EgyptAir has ramped up connections from Europe, and Gulf airlines now offer smoother routes through Doha, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.

Beyond that, we’re keeping an eye on whether direct flights from the U.S. to Cairo come back soon, as that would be huge.

With the full opening of all pavilions at the Grand Egyptian Museum, what will feel new to visitors? And what should clients expect in terms of tickets, timed entry, crowd patterns, and best times to go; especially in the first weeks?

When the GEM fully opens, visitors will get a completely fresh experience. We’re talking about bigger, better storytelling, and for the first time, the full Tutankhamun collection all together. There will be cool multimedia displays, open storage, and amazing views of the Giza Plateau.

At first, tickets will be timed and limited during busy hours, so we suggest booking early morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds and get the best light for photos. VIP and private tours outside regular opening times might also be available through certain partners, so advisors may want to look into that for special trips.

How do you address any concerns advisors and travelers might have about Egypt and its safety in the current climate?

We know safety’s a big concern. However, Egypt is open and welcoming, with tight security at major sites, airports, and hotels. We stay in close touch with security and tourism officials to keep updated.

We offer 24/7 support on the ground, vetted guides, and safe private transport. Plus, we keep everyone informed and transparent about any changes. Visiting Egypt takes good planning, but with local experts, travelers can feel confident and relaxed.

For a first visit, what is your ideal 7-to-10-day plan that fits Cairo, the GEM, Giza, Luxor, Aswan, and time on the Nile without rushing?

  • Days 1-2: Arrive in Cairo, see the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, and visit the GEM.
  • Day 3: Explore Islamic and Coptic Cairo, shop at Khan el-Khalili, relax in the evening.
  • Day 4: Fly to Luxor, tour the East Bank temples, and catch sunset at Karnak.
  • Day 5: Visit the West Bank, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, then start a Nile cruise.
  • Days 6-8: Cruise from Luxor to Aswan, stopping at Edfu and Kom Ombo, with activities onboard.
  • Day 9: Get off in Aswan, see Philae Temple, High Dam, and visit a Nubian village.
  • Day 10: Fly back to Cairo with options for farewell dinner at Khan el-Khalili.

Which Red Sea, desert, or oasis add-ons deliver the most “wow” experience without long transfers? And how many nights would you suggest devoting to them?

El Gouna or Soma Bay on the Red Sea are fantastic for luxury and diving, and they have direct flights from Cairo or Luxor. Spending 2-3 nights here works well.

For an adventure, the White Desert is an amazing place with unique landscapes and stargazing opportunities. It requires a private 4×4 ride and is best for travelers with flexible schedules, who ideally have 2 nights to spend there.

And finally, could you please share three practical, bookable tips advisors can use now on timing, pacing, and must book experiences for 2026?

Of course! Here they are:

  1. Contact us for exclusive expert Egyptologists at the GEM who will bring the exhibits, especially Tutankhamun’s collection, to life.
  2. Contact us early to book top tier Nile cruises and domestic flights, such as Luxor–Aswan or Cairo–Abu Simbel, especially during busy seasons.
  3. Contact us exclusively to book private, before/after-hours visits to sites like the Pyramids, Karnak, or GEM for a truly elevated experience.

Thank you for your time, Alsayed.
