Low water levels made headlines on this trip: reroutes, ship swaps, canceled ports. But the disruption advisors should actually be prepping clients for is quieter and happens every single voyage.

The lesson for travelers booking 2027 river itineraries? Don’t let the ship’s embarkation and disembarkation dates define the whole trip. A one- or two-night pre- or post-cruise stay, paired with a private excursion, not only adds value to the booking but can be the difference between “the cruise was nice” and “that was the best trip we’ve taken.”
