Say what you want, but Switzerland certainly has a knack for making things. And making them well.
Be it watches, multitools, or (you guessed it) cheese and chocolate, if it carries the “Swiss Made” stamp of approval, you know you’re getting your hands on something crafted with dedication, precision, and taste.
And that goes beyond fondue pots and cuckoo clocks, because when it comes to putting together a luxury vacation, that renowned Swiss quality likewise reaches its peak (pun intended).
Which is what a group of inquisitive travel advisors recently discovered alongside Switzerland Tourism Board & Travelive on an elevated FAM trip designed to reveal the fine makings of this highly acclaimed destination. And today, we take a look at what was learned.
Zurich | Deconstructing Switzerland
As you may know, one of the best ways to understand how something works is by taking it apart. And while we thankfully left Switzerland largely intact (save for its chocolate reserves), we nonetheless got to uncover what makes this remarkable country tick, beginning in Zurich.
Our introduction to Switzerland’s largest city proved that precision and elegance go hand in hand. Between strolling the atmospheric streets of the Old Town and admiring its unique blend of history and modernity, we quickly discovered that Zurich has mastered the art of balancing tradition with innovation.
Home for the first nights of our journey was the distinguished Widder Hotel, while exclusive site inspections and exquisite dining experiences at La Réserve Eden au Lac revealed yet another side of Zurich’s refined hospitality.
And then there was chocolate.
Since no exploration of Switzerland is complete without paying homage to its sweetest achievement, a trip to the iconic Lindt Home of Chocolate was a must, and needless to say, no one protested.
From the moment we saw its 30ft chocolate fountain to the first bite of what the largest Lindt Chocolate Shop in the world had to offer, the visit proved that Swiss excellence applies just as readily to cocoa beans as it does to watchmaking.
Between leisurely moments spent exploring the city and memorable dinners celebrating local flavors, Zurich provided the perfect opening chapter to our journey devoted to uncovering the true meaning of “Swiss Made.”

Lucerne | A Switzerland Shaped by Land, Lake, and Rail
Having caught a glimpse of Switzerland’s inner workings in Zurich, it was time to discover its more organic natural allure in Lucerne, where breathtaking landscapes and experiences crafted to perfection come together effortlessly.
But before reaching the shores of its eponymous lake, we first ascended to Mount Rigi, affectionately known as the “Queen of Mountains.” Between panoramic Alpine views, a leisurely walk through the idyllic village of Rigi Kaltbad, and a memorable lunch high above the surrounding peaks, it became abundantly clear that even the dining scene in Switzerland is, well, rather scenic.
And if you think things could only go downhill from there, you’d be right, but in a nonetheless spectacular way.
After descending by cogwheel railway we boarded the historic steamboat Gallia bound for Lucerne, where exceptional cuisine, warm hospitality, and timeless scenery transformed a simple cruise into a five-course celebration of Lake Lucerne itself.
Awaiting us in the city was the elegant Mandarin Oriental Palace, which matched Lucerne’s elevated appeal with pinnacles of refinement. Then, guided walks through the Old Town revealed hidden corners and local stories, while visits to the iconic Bürgenstock Resort and indulgent stops at Max Chocolatier reminded us that in Switzerland, luxury and chocolate are always somewhere around a mountain.
Our final night in Lucerne concluded with a memorable dinner at CAAA by Pietro Catalano, where creativity, artistry, and sustainability came together in a way that felt unmistakably Swiss…and tasted so too.
Because if Zurich taught us what Switzerland is made of, Lucerne showed us how beautifully all the pieces fit together.

Interlaken | Switzerland at New Heights
By now, you may have realized that our impression of Switzerland had very few low points. But if there was one region destined to elevate it even further (quite literally), it was Interlaken. And before reaching it, Switzerland naturally wanted to start the day on a high note.
Ascending Mount Pilatus by cable car, we were treated to sweeping Alpine vistas that paired delightfully with a memorable lunch high above the clouds. And by the time we got down from them, the Luzern-Interlaken Express was waiting. Accompanied by live folk music and some of the country’s most spectacular scenery, it was a train ride that truly deserved a standing ovation.
In Interlaken we were greeted at the legendary Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa, whose timeless elegance and exceptional hospitality made it feel right at home among the surrounding peaks.
And because ordinary dinners simply wouldn’t do, we soon found ourselves enjoying a raclette meal while rafting along tranquil waters; a uniquely Swiss experience that saw us indulging in melted cheese and fine wine against a backdrop of Interlaken’s evening lights.
Then of course, if such experiences don’t put Switzerland at the top of Europe, there’s only one thing left to do, and that’s actually climbing up to it.
Our unforgettable visit to Jungfraujoch revealed a world unlike any other, where champagne, snow-covered peaks, and breathtaking panoramas came together to create an experience worthy of its legendary reputation.
By the time we were due to leave Interlaken, one thing had become abundantly clear: Switzerland doesn’t simply raise the bar. It prefers to build it somewhere above 10,000 feet.

Montreux | Switzerland Beyond the Peaks
Having experienced peak Switzerland (or so we thought) it was time to slow things down and savor some of its finer notes.
Boarding the GoldenPass Express, we traded snow-capped Alps for vineyard-clad hills and the shimmering waters of Lake Geneva, accompanied by an aperitif and some of Switzerland’s most timeless scenery.
And speaking of things that are timeless, a visit to the storybook Château de Chillon illustrated how Swiss craftsmanship has left a lasting impression for centuries.
Then came one of the region’s most celebrated treasures: the Lavaux vineyards. Amid rolling terraces overlooking Lake Geneva, a tasting of exceptional wines showed that the country’s talents extend well beyond chocolate and cheese.
Home for our final nights was the magnificent Beau-Rivage Palace, while visits to the Lausanne Palace and Royal Savoy Hotel & Spa offered further reminders that hospitality, too, is an art form in Switzerland.
Between reveling in athletic glory at the Olympic Museum, browsing Swiss Army knives at the Victorinox store, and savoring one final memorable dinner overlooking the lake at Château d’Ouchy, our journey came full circle. And by then, we had finally found the answer to the question that brought us to Switzerland in the first place.
“Swiss Made,” it turns out, isn’t just something you can purchase; it’s something you can only experience.
Made in Switzerland
Having spent days ascending Switzerland’s mountains and indulging in its luxuries, we repeatedly confirmed that “Swiss Made” isn’t merely a mark of quality: it’s a philosophy woven into every unforgettable experience.
And while we can’t guarantee that everyone returned home with perfect yodeling technique, we are certain that they came away having garnered a deeper knowledge of this refined destination as well as a newfound appreciation for everything that makes Switzerland so uniquely and unmistakably ‘Swiss Made’.
