The Perfect 72-Hours in Interlaken, Switzerland

Interlaken, Switzerland’s stunning alpine jewel, offers a mix of thrilling adventures, serene landscapes, and cultural experiences. Today we will share how to make the most of 72 hours in this picturesque town, catering to both the adrenaline junkies and the culture enthusiasts (and all of you in between).

Getting There

Traveling to Interlaken is part of the charm. We took a direct train from Zurich Airport, and the journey was a visual feast of picturesque landscapes, with the Swiss countryside rolling past our window. You can opt to arrive either at Interlaken Ost or West train station, and depending on your selected hotel, Travelive Switzerland specialists will provide you with the correct disembarkation point. If you prefer to arrive by car, Switzerland’s well-maintained roads and our excellent drivers make for a pleasant and scenic road trip.

Accommodation Recommendations

Luxury: We stayed at the gorgeous Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa 5*– Renowned for its fantastic blend of old-world glam and contemporary touches, this property also provides a world-class spa and million-dollar views! If staying in this property, select a room with a view towards the town instead of the mountain/  park, and a room with either a balcony or a terrace to fully soak up the views and admire the paragliders as they descend on a lush field in front of the hotel. Another breathtaking sight from the hotel balconies is the eternally snowcapped peak of Jungfrau.

Mid-Range: We had a chance to test several properties during our stay at Interlaken, and for slightly more budget-friendly options we would recommend the following properties:

*M Gallery Hotel Collection Royal St. Georges (4)**: Blending historic charm with modern amenities, this elegant hotel is close to the town center, just a few minutes from Victoria Jungfrau. Its stylish rooms and excellent service make it an ideal choice for a stay steeped in old-world feeling.

*Hotel Interlaken (4): This cozy and historic hotel blends old and new. Set in a peaceful garden, it’s a short walk from the town center and offers a wonderful retreat slightly away from the main promenade with excellent service.

Off-the-beaten-path option:

If you aim to immerse yourself in nature, you can select Deltapark Vitalresort 4*.  Located on the shores of Lake Thun, this 4-star resort offers a wide range of wellness facilities, including saunas, steam baths, and relaxation pools. It’s an ideal spot for a rejuvenating afternoon.
