Moroccan Hospitality: Visiting an African Kingdom with Travelive

Some places captivate you with their beauty. Others, with their cultural wonder. And then, of course, there are those who simply need to set the table with a dish or two to make you want to stay forever.

Morocco is known for doing all three.

But there is one thing that can make a destination stand out above the rest. Something that makes it feel even more inviting to visitors from faraway places. A warmth that transcends even its hottest desert days.

Its hospitality.

And that is what Travelive’s Director of Sales, Faye Mantzari, discovered on her recent visit to Marrakech, where the North African kingdom and Morocco by Travelive’s team members made her feel right at home.

“Morocco surprises you in the best possible way. You arrive expecting beauty, culture, and incredible food, but what truly stays with you is the warmth of the people. It’s the kind of place that somehow feels familiar, even though on the surface it seems worlds apart.”Travelive Director of Sales, Faye Mantzari

A Warm Welcome in the Red City

For many travelers, Marrakech serves as both an introduction to Morocco and a gateway to some of the kingdom’s most exciting adventures; as Faye would soon discover for herself.

From the lively energy of its medina to the Atlas Mountains, deserts, and coastal escapes that lie beyond it, Marrakech naturally positions itself at the heart of countless Moroccan journeys.

But before venturing beyond the city’s terracotta walls, Faye first had the chance to experience the city in all its vibrant authenticity.

Before long, she found herself immersed in the city’s bustling medina, where the scent of spices drifted through winding alleyways, artisans worked beneath centuries-old archways, and the sounds of daily life echoed through every corner of the Red City. And at the center of it all stood Jemaa el-Fnaa, Marrakech’s legendary main square, alive with storytellers, musicians, lanterns, and the kind of energy that gets your heart racing in the most pleasant of ways.

Yet beyond the city’s vibrant rhythm, what stayed with Faye most was how genuinely welcoming it felt.

“Marrakech is exactly as vibrant and colorful as people imagine, Faye shared. “But what surprised me most was how warm and comfortable it felt from the moment I arrived. There’s such a genuine sense of hospitality behind every interaction.”Travelive Director of Sales, Faye Mantzari

That feeling only grew stronger thanks to the guidance of Morocco by Travelive Country Manager and Marrakech resident Khadija Bensouda, who welcomed Faye not simply as a visitor, but as someone eager to share a place she deeply loves. The kind of passion, Faye quickly realized, that defines Morocco itself.

Insider Tip for Advisors

Booking VIP assistance upon arrival at Marrakech Airport can make a meaningful difference, particularly for first-time visitors. Fast-track services, private assistance through arrivals, and seamless transfers allow travelers to begin experiencing Morocco’s hospitality from the very moment they land.

Beyond the Medina

But Morocco is far more than spices, stories, and souks, as Faye soon discovered once she ventured beyond the city, where a more untamed, yet equally inviting Morocco awaited.

The bustle of the medina soon gave way to the serenity of the Atlas Mountains, and before long, the emerald plains of the Ourika Valley revealed a true Moroccan experience that redefined the entire trip.

At a traditional Berber village surrounded by mountain views, a local family welcomed Faye into a quieter and more intimate side of the country; one that unfolded through shared meals, the nation’s timeless mint tea ceremony, and time-honed bread baking.

“It never felt staged or performative,” she shared. “There was something incredibly genuine about the experience. You could feel how proud people were to share their traditions and daily life with us. It truly is the kind of thing that travelers rarely get to experience. One that changes your perception completely.”— Travelive Director of Sales, Faye Mantzari

Then came the part every traveler to Morocco anticipates; a desert adventure. Which, in Faye’s case involved a sunset camel ride beneath golden skies of the Agafay Desert, Morocco’s rockier yet just as cinematic alternative to the Sahara.

Pretty soon, the Atlantic coast came calling. Journeying westward toward Essaouira, a visit to a local argan oil cooperative revealed one of the country’s most iconic traditions, preserved by generations of women through handcrafted production methods passed down over centuries.

And waiting beyond it all was Essaouira itself, Morocco’s laid-back Atlantic coastal gem, lined with windswept ramparts, cerulean fishing boats, and populated by somewhat cantankerous seagulls.

There, Morocco by Travelive’s newest member Salwa Rabaaoui introduced Faye to a breezier and more artistic side of Morocco, one that proved there is always more to the kingdom than first meets the eye.

The Long Pour — Morocco’s Mint Tea

In Morocco, mint tea is far more than a refreshment; it is a symbol of hospitality, generosity, and welcome. Traditionally prepared and poured with great care, the ceremony itself is considered an important social ritual, often used to welcome guests into the home. For Faye, sharing tea with a local Berber family in the Atlas Mountains became one of the most memorable reminders that Moroccan hospitality is not simply part of the experience; it is the experience.

A New Era of Moroccan Hospitality

Many travelers may arrive in Morocco expecting nomadic desert camps, historic riads, and centuries-old caravan routes. And while those timeless experiences remain an essential part of the destination’s identity, Morocco’s hospitality landscape likewise offers travel advisors exquisite modern accommodations that continue to echo the country’s traditions through their architecture, design, cuisine, and sense of hospitality. And here are a few that Faye had a chance to personally explore in Marrakech.

La Mamounia

A timeless icon of Moroccan luxury, La Mamounia blends legendary grandeur with beautifully reimagined interiors inspired by traditional craftsmanship. Just moments from the medina, the palace-like retreat remains one of Marrakech’s most celebrated addresses.

Selman Marrakech

Framed by the Atlas Mountains, Selman Marrakech combines Arab-Moorish elegance with the spirit of Morocco’s prized Arabian horses. Refined hospitality, serene gardens, and the renowned Chenot Spa make it a sanctuary of luxury and wellness.

La Sultana Marrakech

Hidden within Marrakech’s historic Kasbah, La Sultana offers an intimate boutique experience filled with handcrafted detail, lush patios, and rooftop views over the Red City. Its artistic character and privileged location make it ideal for travelers seeking authentic luxury.

Royal Mansour Marrakech

Widely regarded as one of the world’s finest hotels, Royal Mansour redefines Moroccan luxury through its extraordinary “medina within a medina” concept. Private riads, winding alleyways, and exceptional personalized service create an experience worthy of royalty.

The Heart of Moroccan Hospitality

“Morocco offers the kind of depth and authenticity travelers are increasingly looking for, but what impressed me most was how approachable and seamless the experience felt throughout the journey. Whether for couples, solo travelers, or even women’s groups, it’s the kind of destination that combines incredible cultural immersion with a genuine sense of warmth and ease.”  Travelive Director of Sales, Faye Mantzari

As Faye’s journey through Morocco drew to a close, it did so in the most fitting way possible: gathered around the table of a traditional riad in Marrakech, sharing one final evening of conversation, Moroccan flavors, and the team that had welcomed her so warmly throughout the trip.

And that is precisely the kind of warmth and hospitality travelers can expect with Morocco by Travelive, whose local expertise, trusted relationships, and deep understanding of the destination help ensure that every journey through Morocco feels just as immersive, welcoming, and unforgettable as Faye’s own.
