So naturally, this is where Greece by Travelive recently invited a group of lovely travel advisors to learn more about all the epic destinations, experiences, and accommodations that always have travelers returning home feeling like Greek gods and goddesses.
And this is how their mythical adventure unfolded.
Arrival | The Beginning of Something Epic
Every legend needs an origin story.
Ours began not among ancient ruins or mythical islands, but along the sun-drenched shores of the Athens Riviera, where a group of travel advisors gathered with a shared mission: to uncover what makes Greece one of the Mediterranean’s most enduring destinations and finally get their hands on a proper, authentic Greek salad.
Home for the opening chapter of the journey was The Roc Club Vouliagmeni, whose refined atmosphere and sunset vistas over one of Athens’ most exclusive coastal enclaves offered a fitting introduction to the country.
Between panoramic sea views, exceptional hospitality, and conversations that quickly turned new acquaintances into companions, the stage was already set for something legendary, and the Athenian Riviera proved to be a worthy opening act.
The Athenian Riviera
More than a pretty face, the Athenian Riviera can serve as a refined, alternative stay for travelers seeking a more relaxing experience of the capital away from the bustle of the city center.
Corfu | Starting on an Ionian Note
Graceful, verdant, and effortlessly refined, Corfu has spent centuries cultivating a reputation as one of Greece’s most elegant (not to mention greenest) islands. And after arriving at the magnificent Corfu Imperial Grecotel Beach Luxe Resort, it quickly became clear why.
Occupying its own exclusive peninsula framed by private coves and sparkling waters, the resort offered an introduction to Corfu that felt every bit as distinguished as the island itself.
Between luxurious accommodations, exceptional hospitality, and spectacular sea views, it provided the perfect setting from which to begin uncovering the island’s many charms; once everyone could be persuaded to stop enjoying it long enough to do so.
Beyond the resort, the historic vineyards and olive groves of the Theotoky Estate offered insight into customs that have endured for generations, accompanied by, of course, local wines and delicious meze enjoyed amid the island’s idyllic countryside.
Those traditions came further to life at Danilia Village, Grecotel’s remarkable recreation of a traditional Corfiot settlement. Complete with a historic olive mill, an old typography workshop, and vine-covered lanes, it made everyone feel a little bit more Greek, thus providing the perfect excuse to indulge in some more spanakopita.
The dramatic coastline of Paleokastritsa then elevated the stay with some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of Greece. While a stroll through Corfu Old Town brought the journey full circle among elegant architecture, fortified streets, and the cosmopolitan atmosphere of its UNESCO-listed center.
Legendary? Perhaps. But Corfu’s greatest accomplishment may simply be making elegance look epic.
Danilia Village — A Step Back in Time
Part living museum, part traditional village, Danilia offers a fascinating glimpse into Corfu’s past. By now, our advisors had sampled local wines, wandered through historic villages, and uncovered enough Greek traditions to fill a small epic of their own. But few legendary quests to Greece unfold without crossing the Aegean; or having a glass of ouzo overlooking it.
And where better to do that than in Mykonos, one of Greece’s most iconic islands.
Beyond being welcomed by its iconic windmills, the hospitality of Mykonos Blu Grecotel Boutique Resort provided a Cycladic sanctuary of whitewashed elegance, stylish atmosphere, and breathtaking views overlooking the crystalline waters of Psarou Beach.
Needless to say, no one needed much convincing to embrace island life at this point.
Yet beyond the glamour that has made Mykonos famous lies a destination deeply rooted in history. That became abundantly clear during an unforgettable visit to nearby Delos, the mythical birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. Walking among ancient temples, marble lions, marketplaces, and centuries-old ruins, our advisors found themselves immersed in the very legends that have helped define Greece for millennia.
Back on Mykonos, a tour of the island revealed another side of its character. From whitewashed villages and scenic viewpoints to local wine tastings accompanied by traditional meze, each experience showcased the authentic charm that continues to draw travelers far beyond the beaches.
Because while Mykonos may have mastered the art of modern luxury, it has never forgotten the stories that made it legendary in the first place.
An Additional Note on This Legendary Journey
While Greece's islands may look wonderfully close together on a map, traveling between them isn't always as straightforward as it appears. In fact, flights between Corfu and Mykonos, as well as Mykonos and Crete (which we'll visit in a moment), typically route through Athens.

Crete | An Island of Stories
Home to ancient civilizations, celebrated wines, spectacular coastlines, and enough experiences to take up a great chunk of your memoirs, Crete has never struggled to make a great impression; or a great feast for that matter. Which may in fact go hand in hand.
Our travelers’ introduction to Greece’s largest island came in Rethymno, a charming coastal town where Venetian, Ottoman, and Greek influences have blended together over centuries.
Awaiting them there was Caramel Grecotel Boutique Resort, an elegant beachfront retreat that perfectly complemented the island’s laid-back sophistication. Infusing traditional Cretan hospitality with the comforts of a modern luxury resort, it offered a fitting base from which to explore one of Greece’s most storied destinations.
Of course, no visit to Crete would be complete without uncovering a few of its myths. At the Palace of Knossos, our advisors got to walk among ruins that have inspired legends for thousands of years. And while no Minotaur sightings were recorded, it nonetheless felt like one could pop up at any moment.
After such an exciting encounter with mythology, we could naturally use a glass of wine, which awaited amidst the vineyards of a charming local winery. And having gotten into the spirit of agriculture, a visit to Agreco Farm followed, showcasing the flavors, traditions, and hospitality that continue to define day-to-day island life while keeping the party going night-to-night.
Then, before bidding Crete farewell, one final stop at Chania for some colorful Venetian charm and delicious souvlaki sent us off to Athens ready to see whether Greece’s capital could live up to its own legendary reputation.

Few experiences capture the spirit of Crete quite like this one. Combining the remarkable history of Knossos with the flavors and hospitality of a local winery, it reveals how the island’s past and present remain beautifully intertwined.
Athens | Living Up to the Legend
As it turns out, Greece’s capital had no trouble living up to its legendary reputation.
Returning to Athens for the final chapter of the journey, our advisors checked into Grecotel Cape Sounio, a genuinely mythical coastal retreat overlooking the Temple of Poseidon and the sparkling waters of the Aegean.
Of course, no stay in Athens would be complete without meeting a few legends face-to-face. During an immersive mythology tour of the city, our travelers explored some of the Greek capital’s most iconic landmarks (Acropolis, of course, included) while hearing captivating tales of gods, heroes, and ancient rivalries.
The city, however, revealed itself to be far more than an open-air museum. Visits to The Dolli and a memorable lunch showcased a sophisticated side of Athens that blends contemporary luxury with centuries of history, proving that the Greek capital continues to evolve while remaining deeply connected to its past.
And as the group gathered one final time for a farewell dinner, there was a growing sense that Athens had accomplished exactly what every great destination hopes to do: leave everyone with a story to tell.
