Spain & France, On Two Wheels (and a Very Good Seat)

1341357962

Every summer, the Tour de France transforms entire regions. Roads close, villages come alive, and places that usually move quietly suddenly feel central. And whether your travelers are avid riders or passionate sports fans, the following two itineraries offer them a chance to witness that firsthand.

In 2026, the spirit of Tour de France extends across both Spain and France, beginning in Barcelona and continuing through some of southern France’s most characterful regions. The route flows with the kind of precision you usually only see in the race itself, connecting landscapes and cities in a way that works, supported throughout by our local Spain and France teams working seamlessly on the ground.

This is not about chasing cyclists, but about being in the right places as it all happens.

One itinerary moves inland, following the rhythm of the race through medieval towns, river valleys, and wine regions, ending in Bordeaux. The other stays closer to the Mediterranean, linking Barcelona with Marseille, Provence, and the Riviera, where the landscape shifts between coastline and mountains.

Both are structured to move easily, with a pace that builds naturally from start to finish.

So, let’s start.

Why These Itineraries Work

The connection to the Tour de France adds timing and atmosphere, but what holds these itineraries together is structure and the way they are managed on the ground.

Each segment flows into the next without unnecessary backtracking. Distances are manageable, transitions feel natural, and every stop adds something distinct without competing for attention.

Behind that simplicity is the collaboration between our Spain by Travelive and France by Travelive teams, who work as one from the moment the itinerary is designed through to the final day on the ground, ensuring continuity, consistency, and real-time support throughout.

Ready to Map It Out?

Whether the focus is aligning with key stages, adding cycling elements, or simply following the route through Spain and France, these itineraries are designed to adapt.

The structure is there, and we know the pacing works. The rest depends on how closely you want to follow the race.
