For many, being home for the holidays can only mean one thing: it’s time to eat!

A hearty meal (or five) has always been synonymous with this time of the year, and for good reason; one that goes much deeper than that bowl of eggnog.

Food brings people together. And when enjoyed in the company of loved ones, every bite bursts with even more joy and satisfaction. As the table fills with plates and laughter, your favorite entrée becomes a highlight, the sweetness of the dessert, a memory, and a glass of wine a toast to togetherness.

This is what France by Travelive’s Country Leader Orianne Suisse is eager to share with a beloved holiday menu that celebrates the season and offers a delicious glimpse into her family’s home region of Burgundy. Because home is where the heart is, and good food is the way to it.

“The following menu is very special to me. It’s a souvenir from the holidays spent with my grandparents, filled with memories of love, laughter, and family traditions. And I’m beyond happy to share it with you.

My family’s traditional Burgundy holiday menu is a feast that’s both authentic and full of heart. And I hope that it inspires you and your clients to experience the magic of French holidays, just as it has inspired me throughout my childhood.” France by Travelive’s Country Leader Orianne Suisse

We always begin with gougères, Burgundy’s iconic savory cheese puffs. Warm, golden, and impossible to resist, they’re the kind of bite that brings everyone together in the kitchen before the table is even set. Filled with smoked salmon and foie gras, they feel festive without being fussy. A glass of Crémant de Bourgogne in hand, and this is when the holidays truly begin.

In Burgundy, the holidays are not about extravagance, but about time spent together, recipes passed down, and meals that are good for the soul. This is a region where food is inseparable from family, landscape, and memory, and where every dish tells a story of place and belonging.

For travelers, experiencing Burgundy through its gastronomy is an invitation to get to know France the way Orianne’s family does; regardless of the season. Because at France by Travelive, we believe there is no better way to discover a destination than by sharing in the flavors that its people hold closest to their hearts.

It seems that our Greece by Travelive team is always on the move. But how could we not be? How could we say no to yet another adventure when living in none other than Greece? After all, if we don’t end up on a mythical quest upon leaving our offices in Athens, it’s sure to call upon us from somewhere beyond.

And this is a call we recently answered, when Greece’s first capital, Nafplio invited us to savor a couple of its iconic experiences. What did it have planned for us? Well, let’s head back to the Peloponnese and find out.

A Peloponnesian Classic

Greece is like a hit parade of amazing travel destinations. You have the chart-toppers; the deep cuts; and then you have that one classic that all fans spin every once in a while. Nafplio is that classic. And every time you visit it, you remember exactly why it hits all the right notes.

Whenever you find yourself in the Argolis region of the Peloponnese, you can always hear Nafplio calling. Blending coastal elegance, neoclassical charm, and magical Venetian fortifications, this seaside town creates an irresistible old-world atmosphere that feels both storied and effortlessly romantic. Cobbled lanes unfold beneath bougainvillea-draped balconies, the Bourtzi fortress floats serenely in the harbor, and life here seems to move at a pace that invites you to linger. For travelers exploring the Peloponnese, Nafplio is not just a stop, it’s a highlight.

Shaping Tradition | A Hands-On Ceramic Experience

After briefly soaking up Nafplio’s cosmopolitan charms, it was time to get our hands dirty. Beginning our day with a creative turn, we found ourselves at a local artisan’s workshop, set amid the meditative expanse of Peloponnesian plains.

There, surrounded by raw clay and the quiet focus of the studio, our team was set to learn the fundamentals of Greek ceramic craftsmanship. To experience firsthand the process of molding simple earth into something functional, personal, and most importantly, memorable: a mug to hold our copious daily amounts of coffee.

Feeling like ancient Greek masters (we use that term very loosely), we discovered just how much care, intuition, and artistry goes into even the simplest object. There was laughter, a bit of trial and error, some exasperation (maybe more than some), but ultimately plenty of appreciation for the artisans who keep this age-old craft alive. It was the kind of experience that slows you down, reconnects you to the tactile, and leaves you with a deeper respect for Greece’s living traditions.

With our creative muscles flexed and appetites awakened, our next stop was all about indulgence. Stepping into a boutique food shop dedicated to small-scale Greek producers, we were invited to experience Nafplio, and the wider Peloponnese, through its flavors.

A generous spread of cured cold cuts and three distinct local cheeses set the stage, each telling a story of tradition, cultivation, and timeless appreciation of food (something we’re very much aware of). Jars of jams, marmalades, and regional delicacies lined the shelves, tempting us at every turn. Resistance, as it turns out, was futile. For once we had gotten a taste of the establishment’s mouthwatering provatina (rich, deeply flavorful lamb) several of us couldn’t help but take some home; almost depleting the owner’s stock in the process.

Flavorsome and insightful, it was a delicious reminder that at the end of the day, the most memorable journeys are often savored one bite at a time.

Answering Nafplio’s Call

As the day drew to a close, one thing was clear: Nafplio has a way of revealing itself through experiences that feel both intimate and deeply rooted. Even amid its refined Venetian charms, it remains a quintessential Greek gem that invites visitors to get closer to the people and traditions that define it.

For travelers exploring Greece through the Peloponnese and beyond, Nafplio offers exactly this kind of layered discovery: creative, flavorful, and effortlessly elegant. And for us at Greece by Travelive, days like this reaffirm why immersive, thoughtfully crafted experiences matter; for they are the kind that turn destinations into stories, and visits into memories.

And this is why when Nafplio calls, and it will, travelers shouldn’t think twice about answering it.

Those who know our Greece by Travelive team know that we can never get enough of our favorite destination (Greece, that is). How fortunate, then, that we get to work within earshot of one of its most iconic landmarks!

We are, of course, talking about the mighty marvel that is the Acropolis. A quintessential addition to any Greek adventure, a visit to the Acropolis is an absolute must, and something that’s near criminal to miss for any first-time traveler to Greece.

This is why we wanted to make sure that your travelers always do it right. And what better way to do that than by exploring this iconic site through their eyes, on one of Greece by Travelive’s top Acropolis tours?

And this we did, embarking on a day of Athenian wonder that can only be described as epic. So, prepare for some myths and legends, as we revisit our journey to the Acropolis!

Entering the Acropolis via the Propylaea

“Ancient Greeks really knew how to make an entrance.” That is what we thought as we began our ascent at the Propylaea.

Historically a symbolic threshold between the everyday world and the realm of the divine, stepping through the Propylaea meant leaving behind the city below and entering sacred ground claimed by Athena herself; an honor reserved for the select few.

Luckily, we are more than worthy. And so, we ventured between its towering columns, as our top-rated guide unraveled tales of divine rivalries, heroic quests, and Golden Age brilliance. With every step, the marble seemed to whisper reminders that this was no ordinary hill, but a stage upon which gods and mortals shaped history.

The Parthenon in All its Glory

Emerging from the Propylaea, we soon found ourselves face-to-face with the monument that has defined Athens (and perhaps Greece) for nearly 2,500 years: the Parthenon. Perched proudly at the summit, this is what you think of when someone mentions Greece (not souvlaki).

But as our guide would go on to reveal, it is much more than that. Dedicated to Athena Parthenos, this marble masterpiece stands as a reminder of what Athens believed itself capable of. A triumph of architectural engineering, it was designed to house a colossal golden statue of Athena herself, whose magnificence was said to outshine the sun itself.

Standing before its Doric columns, we could feel why this temple has endured as the world’s benchmark for classical beauty. It wasn’t just the craftsmanship, but the unmistakable sense that they were standing at the very heart of an ancient empire.

Tales of the Erechtheion & Its Caryatids

Just a few steps away stood one of the Acropolis’ most intriguing wonders: the Erechtheion.

Unlike the Parthenon’s bold symmetry, this temple seems to bend and shift with the landscape, and for good reason. Built on the very spot where Athena and Poseidon famously competed for the patronage of Athens, the ground here was considered so sacred that not even the architects dared to alter it.

It was there that one sight drew everyone’s gaze: the Caryatids. Graceful, poised, and effortlessly bearing the weight of a temple roof, these sculpted maidens have mastered the art of looking serene under pressure, something our team can certainly relate to.

At the Erechtheion, every member of the team could feel the layers of its legacy beneath their feet. Storied, grandiose, and beautiful, this is the Acropolis’ most mystical corner, a place that turns even the most casual sightseer into a pursuer of myth and legend.

Victory at the Temple of Athena Nike

Dedicated to Athena in her victorious form, the Temple of Athena Nike may be small in scale, but mighty in symbolism. And while it doesn’t dominate the summit like the Parthenon, its quiet elegance is undeniable; the architectural equivalent of a perfectly timed, understated win. Built as a tribute to triumph itself, it’s perhaps no coincidence that a certain modern sports brand also shares its name.

In ancient times, Athenians would use this very spot to pray for success in battle. Today, however, it offers visitors something different yet equally valuable: sweeping vistas of the city that once ruled the Mediterranean world. Standing there, with the city stretching out beneath us, we knew felt exactly why the Athenians placed their temple of victory at this vantage point: because some perspectives truly inspire you to just do it.
