Conclude your journey with panoramic views from the monastery’s terraces, embracing Palermo’s unique blend of sacred tranquility and urban vitality.

Day 3 Market Tour and Cooking Experience

After the cooking class, savor your creations at lunch paired with some fine Sicilian wine, followed by local cookies and Sicilian dessert wine.

Day 4 The Valley of Temples

Visit one of the world’s most impressive archaeological sites: the Valley of the Temples. This site boasts outstanding and nearly intact examples of Greek art and architecture, situated about 3km below modern Agrigento. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Valley of the Temples is one of the Mediterranean’s most mesmerizing destinations, showcasing the best-preserved Doric temples outside Greece. These temples, celebrated since Goethe’s praise in the 18th century, are Sicily’s largest tourist attraction. Though impressive, what remains today are mere vestiges of the ancient city of Akragas, once the fourth-largest city in the known world.

Day 5 Tales of Syracuse

Founded by Greeks from Corinth, Syracuse quickly became the most flourishing city in Magna Graecia. Accompanied by your experienced guide, trace its ancient splendor in the Archaeological Park, the Greek and Roman theaters, and the enigmatic Ear of Dionysius—a cave with perfect acoustics, reputedly used by the tyrant Dionysius as a prison. Explore Ortigia, the heart of Syracuse, connected to the mainland by a 19th-century bridge. Wander through its charming streets, lined with artists’ workshops, noble palaces, and Baroque squares, where the scent of the sea fills the air.

Day 6 Taormina, Mon Amour

Experience the elegance and sophistication of Taormina through a captivating walking tour. Explore cobblestone streets adorned with boutique shops, leading to the ancient theater. Originally built by the Greeks in the 3rd century BC and later restored by the Romans, this grand amphitheater once hosted Greek tragedies and now hosts theater festivals and special events. Accompanied by your experienced guide, discover the city’s highlights and enjoy leisure time along Corso Umberto, Taormina’s main thoroughfare. Pause at charming cafes to savor a refreshing gelato or sip almond-flavored wine, a local delicacy that perfectly captures the essence of this enchanting city.

Day 7 Day at Leisure

After meeting your English-speaking driver, you will take a relaxing and picturesque drive around the Valpolicella and Amarone trails. Amarone is a raisin wine made from a mixture of native grape varietals following strict guidelines. The bunches are harvested later and are left to dry and shrivel before the vinification, so that sugar and flavor, once water evaporates, reach a higher concentration. Your tour will take you across a territory where vineyards are interrupted by little villages or by the occasional church, and where local wineries hide the secrets of some of the most coveted Italian wines. You will have the opportunity to visit two of them and taste the Amarone, but also the Ripasso, a wine with an especially strong body and alcohol content, because it undergoes an extended maceration with the pomace of grape skins and seeds left by the fermentation of Amarone. In between the wine tastings, one of which is accompanied by local appetizers, your driver will be glad to give you additional information and tips in case you wish to enjoy some free time in a couple of Valpolicella villages.

Day 7 Walking Tour of Verona

Verona’s fame transcends Romeo and Juliet’s tragic love story immortalized by Shakespeare. This city brims with history and monuments, begging for exploration on a guided tour. From the ancient Arena, hosting operatic performances, to the Gothic marvel of the Scaliger Tombs, Verona captivates at every turn. Wander Piazza delle Erbe, where a medieval fountain, crafted from Roman remnants, evokes ancient allure. Admire Juliet’s balcony, then delve into the exquisite Gothic splendor of St. Anastasia’s Basilica, a hidden gem that leaves visitors spellbound by its magnificent interior.

Bologna is one of the richest and most interesting cities in Italy and during today’s tour, as you are exploring its streets with your guide, you will discover why it was given various nicknames: the red one, the learned one, and the fat one. This tour is a combination of art and eno-gastronomic traditions. You will visit Piazza Maggiore, the city’s main gathering place, which opened in the 13th century with its famous statue of Neptune, the Basilica of San Petronio, the Medieval Market, the Two Towers, and the Archiginnasio, the first permanent seat of the University with the Anatomical Theatre. You will then make a stop at Majani’s shop, a traditional chocolate maker where solid chocolate was invented. You will not want to miss the visit to Atti’s shop, which is a must in Bologna, where you will learn the history of tortellini and tagliatelle. The tour will end at Tamburini’s shop, where, while hearing the history of Mortadella, you will taste some delicious local produce such as Mortadella, Parmigiano Reggiano, and salami, accompanied by local wine.
